If you live in an area with hard water, you may find that it causes a lot of inconvenience. It can lead to lime deposits in household appliances and to higher heating costs. The solution is a water softener. Find out more about the many advantages of a water softener and check out the possibilities of this handy device.
What is a water softener?
A water softener makes the water less hard. Water softeners filter the water by means of resin beads. These grains of resin absorb calcium and magnesium from the water, making the water softer. Salt then ensures that the resin granules are rinsed clean again.
During softening most water softeners also remove lime from the water. When you have too much lime in your water this can cause your skin to become drier and more sensitive while showering, that is why many people prefer to soften the water carefully. Keep in mind that a water softener can cause the water pressure to drop slightly.
