For painting MDF (even if you prefer to do it “without primer”), Zoofy typically works with a painter’s hourly rate. Prices start from €55 per hour incl. VAT.
On average, MDF painting costs range from €120 to €350, based on around 90 completed jobs. The final price mainly depends on the surface area, the finish you want (for example satin or high gloss), and the condition of the MDF.
This service includes volume discount. If you have multiple MDF panels painted, an automatic discount applies from the second panel onwards.
On average, painting MDF takes about 4 to 8 hours. MDF often needs extra prep (dust removal, light sanding and careful masking) to achieve a smooth, even finish.
A single small panel is usually quicker. If there are many edges, corners or multiple parts, the job typically takes longer.
The professional first checks the MDF and what you mean by “without primer”. MDF can be very absorbent—especially on edges—so adhesion and a neat finish are key. In most cases, the work includes:
1) Inspection & guidance:
Checking whether the MDF is raw, already coated, damaged, or has highly absorbent edges, and aligning on the desired result.
2) Preparation:
Cleaning, degreasing and lightly sanding/matting for proper bonding.
3) Edges and imperfections:
Edges are refined where needed and minor defects are repaired for a smooth end result.
4) Masking & protection:
Surrounding areas are protected for clean lines and no mess.
5) Painting:
Applying one or more coats for full coverage, with light sanding in between where needed.
6) Final check & tidy-up:
A final quality check and leaving the workspace clean.
