Have you ever thought about going for herringbone laminate? A herringbone pattern on the floor not only provides a unique look, but is also very chic and creates more space. Laying this laminate goes hand in hand with good preparation, and this is where we like to lend a hand.
See the step-by-step plan below
Below are the steps. If you can't work it out you can always call in the help of a professional.
Step 1: examine the click connection of the laminate and acclimatise your floor
Before you start laying your herringbone laminate you will need to take a few steps. For example, you need to find out about the click connection of your floor. This can work in different ways, and it is of course very handy that you know in advance which method is needed to lay your new laminate. Once you have done this, you can start acclimatizing your floor. This means that you let the laminate get used to the temperature in the room. To do this, place all packages of laminate in the room where you will later lay the floor. Here they will need to acclimate for at least 48 hours.
Step 2: Prepare your subfloor by levelling it
After your herringbone laminate has had time to acclimatize, you can start preparing your floor. To do this, you will first need to look at the subfloor. If it is not completely flat, you will have to level it. You can easily do this yourself, for example by using a putty knife to remove any paint or glue residue. When you have done this, you will also have to check if the floor has no height differences. When you install herringbone laminate, there should be no more than two millimeters difference in height over a length of two meters. If the difference in height is more than two millimeters, you will have to level the subfloor. For tips on this it is best to contact Afium.nl.
Step 3: Clean your subfloor and lay it
After your subfloor has been prepared, you will have to clean it. You have to make sure that there is no dirt or dust on the surface so that the planks can be laid tightly and evenly. When this is done, you can start laying the herringbone laminate. Have you never done this? Then contact Afium, or search on YouTube or Google for an explanation of how this can best be done. This way you can have a beautiful floor in no time!
