Are you looking at how you can insulate your home even better? Then also look at the possibilities for insulating your garage. Here you can quickly achieve a lot of profit and you can easily keep the heat inside.
You see in many (older) homes that the garage is one of the places where the heat is most easily lost. Therefore, choose an insulated garage door. In this article, we would like to explain what to look out for when choosing a new insulated garage door.
What to pay attention to when choosing a new (insulated) garage door
The U value
The insulation value of garage door panels is represented by a U value. This U value indicates how much heat is lost between the inside and outside of the panels. The lower the U-value, the better the garage door insulates.
A new insulated garage door has a U value of between 1.2 and 1.5 W/m2K. The panels meet the most modern requirements and allow a minimum of cold or heat to pass through.
Garage door with or without glass
Will you choose a garage door with or without glass? For a garage door with glass, it is always good to consider a garage door with insulating glass. Think of HR++ or Triple glass. As standard, all insulated garage doors are fitted with HR++ glass.
Insulation of the frame
If you want to optimally insulate your garage, a thermally broken window frame should not be missing. With thermally broken windows, the inner and outer frame are separated by means of a plastic profile. This creates stagnant air between the frame, keeping cold air out and warm air in.
Do you still have an old up-and-over door?
Many old houses in the Netherlands and Belgium are still equipped with an old (metal) up-and-over door. These types of doors are often single-walled and allow a lot of drafts and cold air to pass through. Would you like to insulate your garage? Then have your old up-and-over door replaced with an insulated swinging garage door.
There are specialists in the field of custom insulated garage doors. Insulated garage doors with a low U-value, with or without glass and perfectly insulated thanks to a thermally broken frame. A garage door that will give you years of pleasure.
