With rising energy prices, many people are looking for cheaper ways of heating. The pellet stove is an interesting option for this, as it has numerous advantages compared to a wood-burning stove or the central heating. And cheap heating is not the only advantage!
Four advantages of a pellet stove

1. Stoking with high efficiency
When you fire, heat is always lost, but the amount you lose differs depending on the heat source. The efficiency of the central heating system can vary a lot depending on the model. A conventional boiler has an efficiency of 70 to 80 percent. With this type of boiler, the remaining heat is lost during the heating process. Boilers with improved efficiency achieve up to 90 per cent efficiency. Do you want to achieve maximum efficiency? Then you need a combi HR-CV boiler. Do you burn wood? With a wood-burning stove, you can achieve an efficiency of around 70 to 85 percent. In general, you can assume that the more modern wood-burning stoves have a higher efficiency than older models. However, a modern pellet stove achieves efficiencies of up to 95 per cent, making this type of stove a very interesting option for heating your home.
2. Heating without the hassle
Many people can appreciate the convenience of central heating. You turn up the thermostat a little and the stove does its job. This is a lot less laborious than heating with a wood-burning stove, for instance, which involves a lot of work with kindling, matches and paper. A wood store can also take up a lot of space. Pellet stoves are much simpler in that respect, as they run on electricity. As a result, you hardly have to worry about it. The only thing that needs to be done from time to time is refilling the stove with new pellets. Did you know that there are even pellet stoves with remote control and control via smartphone? With this, you can adjust the temperature very simply, just as we were already used to with the central heating.
3. No bother from fine dust
A fireplace or wood-burning stove is very cosy, but bad for air quality. When many houses in the neighbourhood are heated by wood on cold days, you immediately notice a deterioration in air quality. This is much less of a problem with a pellet stove, as it is much less polluting. Whereas a wood-burning stove emits up to 760 grams of particulate matter per gigaJoule, a pellet stove emits only 60 grams. Incidentally, there are even modern models that no longer emit fine dust at all and therefore burn cleaner than central heating on natural gas!
4. Economical extra heat
The price of pellets has risen considerably in recent times. Nevertheless, the pellet stove is still an inexpensive way to heat the room, especially if you use it as additional heating. You can then turn down the central heating and continue heating the room comfortably with pellets. Especially on chilly days in the early and late season, this is an economical way of heating. Of course, you can still choose to only heat the room with pellets. Whether this is also ultimately the most economical option depends on pellet prices. However, with the current high gas prices, it is definitely worth calculating what is most advantageous in your situation.
