From drills to protective equipment

Are you looking for suitable tools to do jobs for your handyman or do-it-yourselfer at home? Then you definitely need a cordless drill, an electric saw and other good tools. In this blog article you can read more about tools that you as a handyman or do-it-yourselfer cannot do without. What exactly are the tools that should not be missing in the toolbox of today's handyman? And when is the best time to hire a handyman via Zoofy?

A cordless drill

Without a cordless drill and a large collection of matching bits you are nowhere as a handyman, installer or do-it-yourselfer. With a good cordless drill you can quickly insert or remove screws and save a lot of time. Of course, you also need to make sure you have enough screws, in different lengths, thicknesses and sizes, in stock. That way, you can tackle any job that requires screwdriving!

Hammers, saws, pliers & files

Besides a good cordless drill, a professional handyman obviously cannot do without a good hammer. Choose several of them, large and small, so that you can use the right hammer for each specific project. A good handsaw or reciprocating saw is also essential in the toolbox. Don't forget to buy a hacksaw as well as one or more wood saws, so that you can also saw in iron and metal! Of course, you will also need some good pliers, especially if you are a plumber or if you will be working with electricity. Water pump pliers are a classic, as are stripping pliers and squeezing pliers. Finally, you should have a pair of strong wood files and/or metal files. With these, you can sharpen strong, coarse planks and possibly metals to size. A few rolls of sandpaper alone are not enough to get you started as a DIYer!

Indispensable accessories for every building project

Good tools alone are not enough for a builder or handyman. You need several additional accessories for a renovation or refurbishment. These include a measuring tape (or a yardstick), a spirit level (preferably a small and a large one), a pencil to mark off sizes, sandpaper, good contact adhesive, a sealant holder with a good sealant, etc. Also a hobby knife and enough plugs, spikes and screws belong in the basic assortment of serious handymen and professional builders. And what about good glue clamps, wood glue, assembly kit and similar materials?

Make sure you have enough protective materials

Whoever takes on a construction project and is regularly active as a handyman, should ensure that he or she is properly protected against hazards during carpentry, sawing, welding or similar activities. That is why it is important to make sure you have reliable safety equipment. This starts with buying a pair of strong work shoes with a hardened toecap. This type of shoes prevents your toes from getting crushed if stones or other heavy material falls on them. In addition to a set of good work shoes, you should have a pair of work gloves. These protect your hands when welding, sawing, sanding, painting or drilling. Also make sure you have properly fitting safety goggles and dust glasses. Finally, it goes without saying that you should also buy suitable overalls with enough room for your tools. Overalls with many pockets are ideal, because they protect you from paint stains, but also make it easy to transport your most important tools.
