During conditioning, the central heating water is distributed evenly over the heating elements. This is controlled by central heating. Central heating is an umbrella term for central heating boilers and radiators or convectors. The right amount of water flows through all the heating elements and heats the room properly.
Water-side balancing of the central heating system
The main benefit is a significant reduction in energy consumption. Usually 5%, but sometimes 15%. Water-side regulation is especially useful if you want to set the thermostat very high when you want to heat one room another. It also improves water flow in the heating element. This allows the heat to be better distributed. Poor flow distribution can cause some rooms to be too hot or too cold compared to other parts of the house. Thanks to the adjustment, you have a comfortable temperature everywhere. In fact, most houses have poorly adjusted central heating systems. The negative impact on energy consumption and living comfort is therefore not hard to imagine.
When can we adjust?
Previously, the installer always made adjustments when installing a central heating boiler, but unfortunately this is no longer the case. The main reason is that installers are afraid that customers will find the cost too high. Most people do not see the added value there. It may also be due to a lack of knowledge in the installation programme. If you need to replace your central heating boiler, have the water side of your installation changed immediately. If the boiler is not yet due for replacement, it is worth adapting it later. This will quickly save you dozens of euros a year. Also, from 2020, it will be compulsory to update heating equipment. Even if more than 30% of the heating elements have been replaced. In some old houses, however, this is not possible and exceptions are made.
